
The middle school boys' basketball game tonight (11/9) vs. Marshall has been canceled. It will be rescheduled at a later date.
All practices in the District have been canceled for Thursday and Friday.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, school will be canceled tomorrow, November 10. The Veteran’s Day program is also canceled. Please note that school safety is not an issue. More information will be released later.

Mrs. Blade’s Spanish 4 students decorated an altar to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. This holiday is celebrated around the world, including in Mexican, Aztec, and Mayan cultures where families honor their ancestors. Altars are decorated with photos, flowers, Calaveras, candles, and other offerings.


Cameron Roedl will represent Cumberland High School at the IHSA State Cross Country meet at Detweiler Park in Peoria on Saturday, Nov. 4. Cameron qualified for the state meet at the Decatur St. Teresa Sectional with a 12th place finish and a time of 16:07.1. Good Luck, Cameron!!


Last week, Mrs. Flach's Biology I class created models of and labeled animal (red) and plant (green) cells, which consisted of their organelle drawings.




Students in Ms. Booth's math class simulated Shark Tank by creating their own business plan. Then using supplied financial information, they figured out the annual revenue, EBIT, their business multiplier, and the valuation. Each person or team then had to present to the Sharks to seek investments in their company.







Many Cumberland musicians submitted video auditions for the annual ILMEA (Illinois Music Educators Association) District 5 music festivals that will take place at Eastern Illinois University in November. These students will prepare several selections and perform concerts with other top musicians in this region of the state. Representing Cumberland Middle School band and choir are Addison Johnson, Chase Burns, Cameron Coleman, Cody Farris, Amber Lewis, Ethan Matthew, Konnor McKelvey, Shelby Nichols, Chloe Roedl, and Alyssa Yocum. Students who will represent Cumberland High School are Austin Becker, Austin Carlen, Maddy Cutright, Gwen Dunn, Ani Edwards, Stevi Nichols, Rachel Starwalt, and Lauren Stevens. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Cumberland High School's 2023 Homecoming King and Queen, Blake McMechan and Libby McGinnis!


The Cumberland County boys' cross country team placed 2nd at the IHSA Regional, and the girls placed 5th. Both teams advance to the Sectional race at Decatur (St. Teresa) at South Shores Park on Saturday, October 28. The girls' race will be at 10:00 and the boys' race at 11:00.

Cumberland will play Casey in the first round of the playoffs. The game is at Casey at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 27. Go Pirates!

The Cumberland Varsity Eco team earned 3rd place out of 17 teams at the 46th annual Lake Shelbyville Eco Meet at Camp Camfield Ecological Station in Sullivan. They were tested on 3 topics that included Illinois Endangered and Threatened Species, Birds of Prey, and Glaciers. Congratulations!


Homecoming week has been full of class competitions. Today for spirit day, each class participated in games and activities to earn points for the title of class champion. One of today’s contests was a class skit. Here are a few pictures from each class’s performance.
