Ceramics IV students traveled to the Art Institute of Chicago for their annual trip, where they explored an incredible collection of paintings and sculptures. They then visited Millennium Park to see the iconic Cloud Gate. The day concluded with a stop at Giordano's, where students enjoyed Chicago’s famous deep-dish pizza.

On Monday, May 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM, a meeting will be held by the Cumberland C.U.S.D. #77 at the Cumberland District Board Office. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the district’s plans to provide special education services to students with disabilities who attend private or home schools within the district for the 26-27 school year. If you are the parent of a home-schooled student who has been or may be identified with a disability and you reside within the boundaries of the Cumberland CUSD #77, you are invited to attend. Foods II classes made chocolate and banana cream pies last week. They made a homemade crust using pie weights to blind bake the empty shell. Then, they made the homemade pudding for the filling. Students tempered the eggs and stirred them over the stove until they made a creamy filling.

The CHS Scholastic Bowl team tied for 13th place out of 88 teams at Small School Nationals. They went 2-2 for the day, defeating Morris B (Oklahoma) and Brown County, IL. Thank you seniors for your dedication to the team and representing Cumberland so well. We wish you all the best!!!

The CHS Scholastic Bowl team went 8-2 today at Small School Nationals. They started off the morning going undefeated against White Cloud B (Michigan), Shakamak (IN), Logan Magnolia (Iowa), Edgerton (Ohio), and Clopton(Missouri). After lunch, the team lost to Indian Hill A (Ohio) and to Pandora Galboa (Ohio), but defeated Dickson A (Oklahoma), Brown County (IL), and Raymond Central (Nebraska). The team has advanced to day 2 of Small School Nationals the playoff rounds!

Foods II and Foods III students went on a field trip to Effingham. It was a busy day full of delicious food! Students went to Niemerg's, where they toured the facility and ate sweets from their bakery. For lunch, they went to Lucia's Italian Kitchen, where Chef Geno demonstrated making homemade pasta and taught them about the hospitality industry. He also made them lunch with a little help from a student. Before heading back to school, students enjoyed ice cream from Homewood Grill and relaxed in Community Park.

The Cumberland High School Art Club traveled to EIU for the annual LOVE for the Arts field trip, where students participated in a variety of hands-on workshops and showcased their talents in the art competition.

Cumberland earned 2nd place overall for total award winners! Individual honors included:
- Stevi Nichols: 2nd place in Beginning Painting and 1st place in Functional Arts
- Lauren Stevens: 3rd place in Digital Art
- Jaylynn Bone: 3rd place in Mixed Media
