🌈🍀 Leprechaun Traps in Action! 🍀🌈
Today, the Cumberland High School Basic Physical Science class had a blast presenting their leprechaun traps to the second graders! Using simple machines and a lot of creativity, they designed clever contraptions in hopes of catching a sneaky leprechaun. Will their traps work? Only time will tell! 🤞✨

Cumberland will be hosting the 32nd Annual Boys Central Illinois All-Star Basketball game featuring senior basketball players from the LPC and the NTC on Sunday, March 30. The 3-point contest begins at 6:05 PM and the game will tip off at 6:30 PM. Admission is $5.

The home high school softball games will be played in Greenup at Haughton Park.

Stevi Nichols and Addison Johnson were awarded “Best of Day” by their judges at the solo and ensemble music contest on Saturday, March 8. This honor is awarded to the most outstanding performance heard by the contest judge in each room. Congratulations!


The schools will dismiss at 12:01 on Friday, March 14, for a teacher in-service.


Congratulations to the CHS Scholastic Bowl team on earning 4th place in the Masonic Academic Bowl State tournament at Bloomington on March 8! The team finished 4-3 for the day.


In Physical Science, students have been working through different lab stations studying how energy is transformed. Some of the favorite activities included the light energy created when burning magnesium, the homopolar motors created with electromagnetic energy, and calculating chemical energy from the calories in candy.

We are excited to announce the following girls basketball players were named to the LPC All-Conference team. Jude Miller had a unanimous vote for the 1st team, Alysa Dittamore was also named to the 1st team, Suzy Fritts was named to the 2nd team, and Jade Carr was Honorable Mention. Congratulations!

We are excited to announce the following boys basketball players were named to the LPC All-Conference team. Cameron Roedl was named to the 1st team, and Zack Harmon was named to the 2nd team. Congratulations!

The Cumberland Scholastic Bowl team would like to thank the Cumberland County Sportsmans Club for their donation. This donation was made to help our team cover the costs of Nationals that will take place in Atlanta, Georgia in May.

Jenna Hougham and Cameron Brown represented Cumberland High School at the Wabash Valley IPA Student Recognition dinner in Newton on March 5.


Mrs. Lee’s basic physical science class built slow marble runs to see which group could win with the slowest marble roll. Which do you think won? A or B?


Any student entering the 9th - 12th grade for the 2025-2026 school year interested in trying out for the high school cheer team should pick up paperwork in the school offices. Paperwork is due back by Friday, March 21.
Tryout clinics are on Tuesday, April 1 - Thursday, April 3 from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM at the high school.
Tryouts are on Friday, April 4 from 5:30 PM - 8 PM at the Toledo Christian Church.

The CHS Scholastic Bowl team was invited to participate in the NAQT State Illinois for Small School Tournament. They had a successful weekend, placing 6th overall out of 11 teams. Lauren Stevens received a Rising Star medal that is awarded to the top 4 Freshman or Sophomores in the tournament. Nice work, team!
