Loki, the albino corn snake, visited the Algebra/Trigonometry class. Several students had their first experience holding a snake.
The Cumberland High School basketball game tonight (1-12-24) at Blue Ridge will now have a JV start time of 5:00 PM with Varsity to follow. The players' bus will be leaving at 2:45 PM.
There has been a change in time for the Cumberland High School wrestling event scheduled for tomorrow.
Wrestlers will now weigh in at 9:00 AM.
Wrestling will start at 10:00 AM.
Reminder: There will be no school on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday.
Financial Aid Night for Senior students and parents is January 16 at 6:00 PM in the high school cafeteria.

2024-2025 Cumberland High School Cheerleading tryout information:
There will be an informational meeting for students and parents on Thursday, February 29, from 5-6 PM in the high school cafeteria for those interested in trying out for the high school cheer team. This meeting will go over tryout information and what is required and expected for those who make the CHS cheer team. At this meeting, students will receive a tryout application.
Tryout Clinics are on the following dates: Wednesday, March 6, from 5:30-7:30 PM, Thursday, March 7, from 5-7:30 PM, and Friday, March 8, from 5-7:30 PM. All clinic dates and tryouts will be held in the high school gym. These are closed sessions.
Tryouts are on Saturday, March 9, from 9:30-11:30 AM. Attendance is mandatory for tryouts.

Senior Night for winter sports will be announced tonight between the JV and Varsity games. Come out and support all of the students participating in Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Cheer, Wrestling, Band, Trap, and Scholastic Bowl!

On January 5, the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) will recognize Cumberland High School as one of the few consolidated high schools that have surpassed the 1000 win mark for boys basketball. We would like to invite all past/present players, coaches, and fans to attend this event that will take place between the JV and Varsity games that evening.

Students in FACS classes donated money to purchase Christmas gifts for children who live in foster homes. Mrs. Thomas purchased ingredients for S'mores & students could pay to make one after they finished their final exam. All the money that was collected was used for the toys.

Last week, Mrs. Walk took a group of high school students to Barnes and Noble to select books for the high school library. It looks like they had a successful trip based on their receipt!
