The CHS Cheer team attended the Ultimate Xperience Cheer Camp July 15-18 at Effingham High School. The squad competed against 14 other varsity teams Thursday afternoon. They were awarded the Most Improved Team out of the 20 teams attending the camp. They also came home with a spirit meg.
Caroline Fritts won Cheerleader of the Day on day one. This award was voted on by the staff and goes to a cheerleader who showed the qualities of cheerleading essence, who was most spirited, who had respect, and who encouraged the team and other teams throughout the whole day.
The team had multiple nominees for Best of Best tryouts. Nominees for Best of Best tumbling tryouts were Emma Ryan, Layla Holsapple, and Kaelin Edwards. Nominees for Best of Best jumps were Brielle Aaron, Emma Ryan, Kaelin Edwards, and Meah Scales. Nominees for Best of Best dance were Hailey Achenbach, Brielle Aaron, and Ava Hines.
Best of Best nominees competed Thursday morning for the Top 10. Emma Ryan placed Top 10 for Best of Best tumbling and Best of Best jumps. Kaelin Edwards placed Top 10 for Best of Best jumps.

Reid Carlen placed 6th in the 100 M Dash with a time of 11.06 at the IHSA State track meet today. He is the first 100m finalist in Cumberland history. Congratulations Reid!
Coach James and the Lady Pirates held their basketball camp this week. The girls worked hard and learned many new skills!
At the IHSA State track meet on Thursday, Reid Carlen ran a 10.90 in the prelims of the 100 M Dash. He advanced to the finals and will run again Saturday for a medal! Good luck, Reid!
The high school baseball awards have been rescheduled from Tuesday, May 28, to Wednesday, May 29, starting at 6:00 PM at the Toledo Christian Church.
The high school textiles students made many projects throughout the school year. These included baby items that will be donated to help mothers in need and a set of giant cornhole bags to accompany a woodshop project.
