We are excited to have a second Shoe Tree distribution for our students again this year. If you are experiencing financial hardship, complete this form for qualifying students to receive a free pair of shoes. Shoes will be distributed by the school in mid-February. The normal Shoe Tree fall distribution is still being planned for the 25-26 school year. A form will be sent out in May for that Shoe Tree.

There has been a change to the menu for the grade school. Tomorrow's main entree will be Quesadillas instead of meatball subs.
Cumberland schools will not be in session tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Tuesday’s scheduled extracurricular activities will be canceled or rescheduled.
We had a couple of visitors around the campus this afternoon to surprise the students as they left for the holiday break!

The kindergarten students worked at several Christmas stations this morning! They had fun creating items, decorating a cookie, and searching for Christmas items in all of the rooms.








The elementary students enjoyed Reindeer Games this afternoon! This was their PBIS celebration for second quarter.










Ms. Williamson's first grade class made stockings and wrote a kind note to give to every student in the classroom! They were practicing how to show kindness to everyone while working on writing skills.




The first grade had their last practice today and they are ready for their concert tonight! We hope you can join us this evening for two great holiday concerts. The first grade performs at 6 PM in the new gym, and the 4th grade will have their program beginning at 7:15 in the new gym.





On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the Red Cross will host a blood drive at Cumberland Elementary and Middle School from 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM. Participants will receive a long sleeved t-shirt! For an appointment, call 1-800--RED CROSS or visit RedCrossBlood.org.

Last week, the kindergarten classes successfully hunted and captured the Gingerbread Man! They baked him into a cookie! The students ended the day by creating gingerbread houses.







Early dismissal reminder for next week: School will dismiss at 2 PM on Thursday, Dec. 19, and Friday, Dec. 20. There is no school from December 21 - January 3 for the holiday break.

Next week, Cumberland Elementary and Middle School is hosting a holiday spirit week! These are optional activities.

The 4th graders went to an EIU men's basketball game on Friday, December 6. The kids were able to join other area schools and cheer the Panthers onto a victory against Calumet College!


The 3rd graders put the finishing touches on their concert and are ready to share it tonight! The concert begins at 6:30 PM tonight, 12/9, in the Middle School Gym.

Mrs. Young's third graders created Grinch inspired ornaments today that will be added to their Grinch Christmas tree located at the Sumpter Township Library!

Today, Mrs. Stierwalt’s kindergarten class made donut turkeys for a Thanksgiving treat!




First grade students listened to Balloons Over Broadway, The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade about Anthony (Tony) Sarg. Students listened to the story, placed events of Tony’s life in chronological order, learned how the balloons are made now, planned and created their own balloon for a parade down the halls of our school!
