Mrs. A. McElravy's 4th grade class experimented with lava last week. They have been learning about volcanoes and what makes them explode.





Cumberland CUSD #77 will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 22, 2024 due to the forcasted inclement weather.

Mrs. Smyser’s students finished their reading unit on Ancient Rome by participating in a Reader’s Theater. Each student played a part in the fable, Androcles and the Lion.



The CMS Student Council is hosting a blood drive on January 22 from 2-6 PM. Support a great cause and get automatically entered for a chance to win tickets to the Super Bowl!


Reminder: There will be no school on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday.


Mrs. Walk's kindergarten group enjoyed reading the book, Duck on a Bike, this afternoon!


Mr. Miller’s 3rd grade PE classes are playing hockey this week. Each team is working hard to score the most goals!








We are excited to have a second Shoe Tree distribution for our students this year. The normal Shoe Tree Fall distribution is still being planned for the 24-25 school year. A form will be sent out in May for that Shoe Tree.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, complete this form for qualifying students, Pre K-8th grade, to receive a free pair of shoes. Shoes will be distributed by the school in mid-February. Please complete this form by January 19, 2024.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!


Students in FACS classes donated money to purchase Christmas gifts for children who live in foster homes. Mrs. Thomas purchased ingredients for S'mores & students could pay to make one after they finished their final exam. All the money that was collected was used for the toys.


Santa checked in on one of our elementary classrooms today.
Thankfully everyone was on the nice list!


On January 5th the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) will recognize Cumberland High School as one of the few consolidated high schools that have surpassed the 1000 win mark for boys basketball. We would like to invite all past/present players, coaches, and fans to attend this event that will take place between the JV and Varsity games that evening.
Also, following this announcement we will recognize winter senior participates and their parents.
