Mrs. Bierman’s second grade students are learning about ancient civilizations. In science, they created models of mountains and added rivers to them. They used water bottles to represent rain. The rain traveled down the mountains and created rivers. Some rivers flooded just like they had learned happened to the Indus River in India. It was a great knowledge-science connection.

The third grade was busy last week learning about how the library is organized. They discovered the difference between the types of books the library has to offer and how a call number works. The students showed off their new knowledge by playing a matching game in which they had to place the book with its corresponding call number. These third graders are library pros!

Mrs. Figgins' class has been diligently studying morphology, which focuses on understanding the structure of words through prefixes, suffixes, and roots. By exploring Latin and Greek roots alongside common prefixes and suffixes, students are gaining valuable insight into how word parts shape meaning. This week, the students are actively engaging with the prefix "un-" and the Greek roots "graph" and "gram" through interactive hand motions, reinforcing their learning dynamically and memorably!

Ms. Hemmen’s class enjoyed the PBIS reward of wearing hats and sunglasses today!😎🧢

Mrs. Chesnut's first grade students practiced their spelling and writing this week by using their senses!
