Second grade celebrated Read Across America with a camping day. The students participated in learning stations with a camping theme. In the afternoon, they enjoyed building a giant s'more as they read and took AR tests. The best part may have been the s'more treats and playing camping BINGO!



Cumberland Elementary and Middle School will be celebrating Read Across America next week. Mrs. Walk, our District Librarian, has several activities planned for the students including the dress-up days listed below!

Many students in the district enjoyed visiting the petting zoo today! The petting zoo was sponsored by the Cumberland FFA.




If you have a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024, he/she needs to be pre-registered for Kindergarten. Please start the process at the Google Form below. The Cumberland County Broadband Committee is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 5:30 PM at the Cumberland County Life Center Building, 507 E Main Street, Toledo, Illinois.
The committee has developed a survey to demonstrate the overall need for reliable and affordable broadband. This meeting will help residents better understand the committee’s mission and goals and explain how you can help encourage participation in the survey and the BEAD challenge. Kindergarten wrapped up their kings and queens reading unit today with a tea party. They danced, played bingo, and had a fancy snack!








Reminder: Cumberland schools will dismiss at 12:15 on Friday, February 9, for a teacher in-service.


Mrs. Bierman's class concluded their unit of study on the Western expansion by having a Pioneer Day. The students did various activities including making butter and eating it on cornbread muffins!

Ms. Williamson’s first grade class has been learning about different habitats. The students each drew three habitat pictures of the Arctic, the desert, and the African savanna. Then, the students placed different animals in their correct habitat.





Will a mountain last forever? Mrs. High's 4th graders learned about weathering today and answered that question by experimenting with shaking sugar cubes in a container.





Mrs. Smyser’s third graders discovered how flowers are pollinated last week by creating a bee to transfer “pollen” to their flower.






The second grade had a Glow Party to celebrate the 100th day of school!
