Every year, six students are selected by their principals to be honored at the IPA dinner for demonstrating excellence in both academics and character. This year's honorees are Lila Light, Brooks Braden, Freddy Blade, Quinn Walker, Mitchell Blade, and Karen Willenborg. Congratulations students!

This week, 7th and 8th graders partnered up with 1st grade and kindergarten students to read books in celebration of Read Across America! 📚










Congratulations to the 7th grade Lady Raiders! They won the IESA Regional Championship! They will be going around the Toledo square soon.

Students in Mrs. Mulheron’s and Ms. McDaniel's sixth grade science class participated in a lab to see how exercise affects the body! They measured their heart rate and breathing rate before and after exercising and recorded the changes. It was a great hands-on way to learn how our heart and lungs work together during physical activity.

We would like to share an upcoming workshop, Digital Discernment: Creating a Tech-Ready Home in the AI Age, presented by Protect Young Eyes and sponsored by Sarah Bush Lincoln Healthy Communities. This session will be valuable for parents, grandparents, educators, and other caring adults.

We are proud to recognize 7th grade volleyball players Liz Sudkamp, Harper Nichols, and Lilly McMechan for their invitation to the All State Classic volleyball event. The event will take place in East Peoria over the weekend of March 21 -22. Congratulations!

Cumberland Drama will present Descendants the Musical on Friday, 3/13, at 7 PM, Saturday, 3/14, at 7 PM, and Sunday, 3/15, at 2 PM at the Toledo Christian Church. Tickets are $10 and are on sale at both school offices, the Greenup and Toledo First Neighbor Bank, and the Toledo Democrat office. Don't miss this great show!

Mrs. Kingery's 8th grade students recently wrote letters to the national parks in search of information for their expository essays. Many students have received letters, brochures, stickers, postcards, and pamphlets back in response to their national park letters. Students will use the information to write their essays in English class.

Mark your calendar! Graduation and promotion dates have been set. High school graduation will be held on Sunday, May 17, at 2:00 PM in the high school gym. The 8th grade promotion will be on Tuesday, May 19, at 6:00 PM in the middle school gym. The 8th grade dance will follow.

Mr. Kimura's math students headed to the board to apply what they had learned about ratios and proportions to real-world problems. It was a great way to practice the process after learning a new concept!
