Mrs. A. McElravy's 4th graders completed a math project in which they had to decide what they wanted to cook for their Thanksgiving meal and use grocery flyers to calculate the cost.
Thanksgiving break begins with 2:20 PM dismissal on Tuesday, 11/21. There will be no school from 11/22-11/26. School resumes on Monday, 11/27.
The elementary and middle schools are collecting bottle caps to create a bench in memory of Mike Oakley, our Transportation Director. The specific caps listed will be recycled into a memorial bench to be placed at school as a reminder of Mike's positive influence on students, parents, and staff. If you would like to help, you may drop off your caps at the grade school office.
Mrs. High's 4th grade class created Veterans Day Projects last week. The students put a lot of effort into their projects! They look great!

The Cumberland community lost a beloved employee Thursday. Mike Oakley spent thirty years serving our community and school district. His work ethic and dedication were exceptional. Our prayers and love go out to Mike’s family. He will be forever missed.
The middle school boys' basketball game tonight (11/9) vs. Marshall has been canceled. It will be rescheduled at a later date.
All practices in the District have been canceled for Thursday and Friday.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, school will be canceled tomorrow, November 10. The Veteran’s Day program is also canceled. Please note that school safety is not an issue. More information will be released later.
Cumberland schools will dismiss at 12:15 on Friday, November 10.

Today, one of Ms. Williamson's first grade students was excited to read a book from home to his class all by himself. Great job!
Last Friday, the Kindergarten classes celebrated the 50th day of school with a 50s party! They hula hooped, had root beer floats, had a bubble gum-blowing contest, and danced to many songs!
The 4th grade Halloween party was themed Middle Ages to go along with what the students are learning in ELA. The students were able to try snacks from the Middle Ages, make a stained glass window art project, build a castle with graham crackers, and participate in jousting competitions. The students had a great day!
Students in the elementary school dressed up as their favorite characters today. They celebrated Halloween with activities in their classrooms. Thanks to all of the volunteers for your help!
These students in 4th grade reached their A.R. goal in the first quarter. They each received an ice cream cone at Coffee and Creams in Toledo. Thank you to Coffee and Creams in Toledo for your donation!
In second grade, Ms. Bueker’s class has been reading and writing about a hedgehog. The students completed an art project of a hedgehog to go along with the story. To wrap up the unit, a parent brought in one of the student's pet hedgehogs. It was fun for the class to see a real hedgehog!
