The Book Fair is coming! Books will be available to purchase Monday, May 4, through Thursday, May 7. The Book Fair will be open during Family Engagement Night on Thursday, May 7, from 4:00-6:30 PM. After studying different bridge designs, Mrs. Smyser’s third-grade class built simple bridges using paper and books spaced six inches apart, then challenged themselves to see how many pennies their structures could hold!

Notice of Public Meeting

On Monday, May 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM, a meeting will be held by the Cumberland C.U.S.D. #77 at the Cumberland District Board Office. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the district’s plans to provide special education services to students with disabilities who attend private or home schools within the district for the 26-27 school year. If you are the parent of a home-schooled student who has been or may be identified with a disability and you reside within the boundaries of the Cumberland CUSD #77, you are invited to attend. Earlier this month, Brenda Salyers from Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) visited our fourth graders to share important tips on soil conservation, wildlife protection, and water quality. Students put their new knowledge to work by creating posters, and SWCD awarded first and second place prizes in each class! Huge thanks to Brenda and SWCD for inspiring our young conservationists. Congratulations to all the winners!

After completing their unit on life cycles, Mrs. Smith’s second graders brought their lessons to life through hands-on exploration. They successfully hatched adorable baby chicks and watched them begin their journey. In addition to their feathered friends, the students planted sunflowers and grass. The grass is even serving as "hair" for their creative "silly face" projects. Now, the class is eagerly monitoring their chrysalises as they prepare to transform into butterflies!

The first-grade teachers pulled off an April Fools' prank by swapping classrooms this morning! The students were surprised to find different teachers in their rooms, who then administered a spelling test of random words. It was a morning of fun confusion before their "real" teachers returned!
